Sunday Worship

 Ascension Day is always 40 days past Easter (Thursday, May 21st this year) and marks the observance of Jesus’ mysterious departure from earth. 

Luke describes it in Acts chapter 1:9, “…(Jesus) was lifted up and a cloud took him out of their sight.”  Just before this event, the disciples had crowded around Jesus, asking him, “Lord, is this the time when you will restore the kingdom to Israel?” (Acts 1:6)    The disciples were impatient about how the Kingdom of God would come about, and perhaps not fully understanding what Jesus really meant by this teaching. 

As part of worship this Sunday, the sermon will explore the question, “Are We There Yet?’ in relation to both the Kingdom of God, our present reality during the pandemic, and other concerns which might require patient trust and belief in Jesus’ ascension and regal rule from heaven.    Join us at 11 AM on Facebook or knoxottawa.ca!
