Like the rest of the world, we have been shocked and horrified by the images of suffering of the people of Syria. War has brought destruction of homes and death or injury to thousands, but many more have been persecuted and driven from their homes for having the wrong heritage or religion. Millions of people of all ages and faiths have been displaced within Syria and some (who may consider themselves lucky) have managed to get beyond the border. Thousands have risked their lives and those of their families to do so, only to be crowded by the tens of thousands into temporary camps.

What can we do?

The congregation of Knox has responded to similar crises in the past – Hungarian refugees in 1957 and Vietnamese and Cambodians in the 1970s faced the same situation and Knox responded by resolving to sponsor at least one refugee family. We have resolved to do so once again. For further information you can contact the church office at (613) 238-4774 or by email. To make a donation, click the button below and select Refugee Sponsorship Fund. A tax receipt will be issued for your donation.
