The coordinator of Out of the Cold at Knox recently announced the extension of take-out meals to the end of April.

The Out of the Cold program has traditionally ended on the last Saturday of March, but last year the pandemic had increased the need for many people. Thanks to the generosity of many donors and all the volunteers, the program  continued as take-out meals, helping to serve the needy in downtown Ottawa.

Again this year, with a possible “third wave” of illness, continued restrictions on gatherings, continued economic hardship and increasing numbers of people in need of meals, the decision was made to continue for at least another month. According to the coordinator, the volunteers are eager to carry on with serving the meals, and donations have so far kept pace with the needs.

Accordingly, meals will be available to take out from the Lisgar entrance of Knox on Saturdays from 4 PM to 5 PM throughout April. Physical distancing will be necessary, and masks will of course be required.
